Pastor Corey D. Hatchet Sr.

Corey D. Hatchet, Sr. was born to David and Jackie Hatchet in West Palm Beach, Florida; the family moved to Baltimore, Maryland three years later. Pastor Hatchet is a dynamic preacher, teacher, and leader. He has always helped and led others making his transition to leadership appear natural.

Education

His passion for excellence and theological studies drove him to purse higher education. In 2005, he received his A.A. degree in General Studies with distinguished honors from Baltimore City Community College. In 2006, Pastor Hatchet also received a certificate of Biblical Studies from Washington Bible College and graduated with honors the following year, earning his Bachelor’s Degree. He received his Master’s in Biblical Studies, with honors, in 2010. In 2014, he continued his matriculation at Clarks Summit University in Clarks Summit, PA and is now working to complete his dissertation.

Ministry & Vision

Corey D. Hatchet Sr. is Pastor and founder of House of Refuge International Church, which came to fruition on Sunday, November 7, 2004. The church’s mission is to make disciples through Loving God and Loving His People. As a church, HRIC believes in prayer, teaching the word of God, fellowship, breaking bread, and enjoying life along the way. Pastor Hatchet and HRIC have a heart to reach the unreachable, underserved, and often overlooked. In effort to build cohesiveness in the underserved community, Pastor Hatchet partnered with several organizations including Coppin Heights Community Development Corporation (CHCDC), Rosemont Community Inter-Faith Coalition (RCIC), and Behavioral Health Systems of Baltimore (BHSB 2020-2022). Pastor Hatchet believes that spiritual guidance, love, faith, and compassion, with a willingness to help are the key components to have a positive influence in the lives of people.

Family

Pastor Hatchet found the apple of his eye in Tonya Hatchet and married her in 1994. He and his wife, Lady Tonya Hatchet, lead the flock hand in hand with the Love of Christ. They have four beautiful children: India, Jasmyne, Cortneh,’ and Corey, Jr. and three grandchildren Landon, Logan, and Kehlani. Pastor Hatchet is a man of integrity who leads by example humbly at the feet of Christ.
